Gov. Melchor Diclas monitors Benguet amid heavy rainfall forecast

Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas joined members of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in monitoring weather conditions and the situation across Benguet at the provincial Emergency Operations Center on Aug. 31.

The governor urged residents to remain vigilant and immediately report emergencies to their respective local Emergency Operations Centers as PAGASA forecast 100 to 200 millimeters of rainfall over Benguet during each 24-hour period through noon Sept. 3 amid the prevailing southwest monsoon.

The Politiko emphasized continued vigilance as Tropical Depression Pilandok remained nearly stationary over the Philippine Sea east of Extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 70 kph.

Although no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal was in effect, PAGASA warned that the southwest monsoon would continue to produce strong to gale-force gusts across most of Luzon and the Visayas, prompting provincial authorities to closely monitor conditions and maintain emergency preparedness.
